SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM |
CONTINUED ENROLLMENT AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The below comes from the Agreement for Continued Enrollment form, which has been signed by all students starting with the fall 2005 semester.
CONTENT OF THE SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM
The Summerland Honors Program consists of six seminar classes and a senior capstone experience. Within the six seminar classes, students are expected to:
· Faithfully complete readings and participate in class discussions.
· Represent the Honors Program and Newberry College in community service projects, as described within each course.
CONTINUATION IN THE SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM
Students may continue in the Summerland Honors Program under the following conditions:
· First semester students must earn a minimum C+ grade in HON 101 (or a 2.5 GPA in Honors courses) and an overall 2.5 GPA at Newberry College.
· By the end of the first year, students must earn a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA in the Honors Program courses and overall at Newberry College.
· By the end of the third and fourth semesters (typically the sophomore year), students must earn a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA in the Honors Program courses and overall at Newberry College.
· By the end of the fifth and sixth semesters (typically the junior year), students must earn a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA in the Honors Program courses and overall at Newberry College.
GRADUATION FROM THE SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM
In addition to graduation from Newberry College, students may also be
graduates of the Summerland Honors Program. The honor will be bestowed up
students who successfully complete all seven of the Summerland Honors courses
with a minimum 3.25 GPA. In addition, students must, at the time of graduation
from Newberry College have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA.
