SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM
A Quest for Identity

BENEFITS OF THE
SUMMERLAND HONORS PROGRAM

ACADEMIC BENEFITS

  • The opportunity to excel in an academic situation, something you are already good at!

  • A seminar/discussion oriented series of classes which encourage you to speak your mind, and emphasize interdisciplinary thought.

  • Six of the seven Honors courses count for Core Curriculum credit (so you don't need to worry about being here an extra year to graduate).

  • Students understand more about involvement in the community through our service learning program.

  • You can register for up to 21 hours of classes at the standard rate (other students pay overload starting at 18 hours).

  • With graduation your diploma will include your graduation from the Summerland Honors Program, and your name is placed on a plaque in Holland Hall.

FUN BENEFITS

  • Access to the Summerland Honors House (at the corner of College and Pope Streets), 24/7.  There are comfy chairs/couch, a kitchen (including some food), a TV, DVD player, & VCR, and a computer room with Internet access and printer.

  • An honors program T-shirt (a new shirt is developed each year during the first month of the fall semester).

  • Knowing that you are one of the best students on the Newberry College campus!
