THE 2009-2010 NEWBERRY COLLEGE RECYCLING PLAN

We are in the process of developing an action plan.  Please check back later for updated details.

During the 2009-2010 academic year we will continue in the development of a campus-wide recycling program.  Toward that end we (the campus community) wish to:

  1. Determine the best locations for placement of recycling bins.  Make sure safety is considered in the placement.
  2. Determine what supplies (bins, etc) are needed to accomplish our recycling goals.  Secure additional funds, as needed, to purchase supplies.
  3. Inform the campus community where the recycling bins are located and whether prepping or sorting is needed.
  4. Coordinate facilities and supplies to ensure recycling will work efficiently.  Answer the question: how do we get material from campus to a recycling center?  Coordinate human resources so all know what can and should be done and no one feels like the project is a big burden, or added chore.
  5. Continue to develop an educational program to explain why recycling is important to all.  Further educate the campus community relative to the other “Rs” …. Reduce your use of materials; Reuse supplies; and more.  This could be enhanced through FAL lectures and other events.
