Formatting for MLA using Word 2007

| Dr. Armstrong's home page | Remember that
Word 2007 adds an extra quarter-line between paragraphs, violating MLA
format. I did some checking, and here's how to turn it off: 1. On the Home ribbon, find the Paragraph section 2. In the bottom right corner of the section, click the button to show the Paragraph dialog box 3. Select "Don’t add space between paragraphs of the same style" 4. Click OK If you've already typed paragraphs, use CTRL-A to select the whole paper before you make the change. Sadly, because Microsoft clearly hates us all, you'll have to make this change every time you open a new document, unless you click the "make default" button. I suggest doing this, as there's no reason for that extra space and it annoys the professors who insist on standard formatting (i.e., me).
